Who am I

Design, in my opinion, has the ability to improve communities and change people's lives. I have always been motivated by a strong sense of duty to the general good rather than by the desire for individual success. Whether I was running summer camps for kids in Zoutelande or assisting customers in uncovering what they really needed at a computer store, I quickly learned that real value isn't about having the newest or most expensive solution; rather, it's about genuinely understanding people's needs and making something that lasts.

My ambition to create livable spaces—areas that people embrace as extensions to their own homes—is the core of my passion for urban design. I recall thinking, "Well, this is truly a well-designed space," as I passed through public areas that seemed to seamlessly merge nature and urban life, with a sense of belonging echoing in every corner. From these experience I was convinced that timeless design is something that people value and that changes with its community rather than being forgotten.

This idea has influenced my academic design projects, like the Zaanstad project, which taught me to work with nature's enduring resilience through creative methods, and the Park Overhage design, which taught me that authentic design must take into account every user, from residents to passersby. As president of Johannes Calvijn, a Christian student organization in Delft, I was also inspired to help others grow personally and to create a sense of purpose, which further reflected my conviction that collective development is more important than individual success.

In the future, I would love to work for a firm that shares this vision: one that sees resilient, sustainable design as a living, breathing expression of both human and natural environments. I'm always looking for ways to learn more and combine innovative design techniques with a strong commitment to improving communities. My objective is simple but ambitious: to contribute to the creation of a world that is livable for all, where every area promotes creativity, connections, and longevity.
